Saanich Police are warning the public and are hoping to identify a man accused of masturbating in front of a teenage girl Thursday morning as she waited for the bus.

The incident took place this morning just after 8 a.m.  It was not reported to police for almost an hour after the female student arrived at her school.

The female student was sitting at a BC Transit bus stop in the 400 block of Boleskine Road when a man walked into the bus stop and began asking sexual related questions.

“When the female student did not respond, the male pulled down his pants, exposed his penis, and began to masturbate” Sgt. Steve Eassie said.

The student left the bus shelter to seek help and the male departed the area on foot towards Whittier Avenue.

The suspect male was described as Caucasian, 35 to 45 years old , approx. 5’8 clean shaven, wearing a dark blue zip up hooded sweatshirt, black undershirt, black jogging pants, and had no accent and clear speech.

Females using public forms of transit are being asked to be vigilant and be aware of their surroundings. If possible, travel in groups of two or more. If alone, carry a cell phone if possible. In the event of a similar circumstance, please contact police immediately.

Anyone that may have information relating to this incident, or who may have information concerning the identity of the suspect, are asked to contact the Saanich Police Department at 250-475-4321 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
