When you are sick, the last thing you want to do is sit in a waiting room for hours, or possibly show up to a clinic to be told they’re at capacity. Now you can look up wait times online.
A new website soft launched earlier this year, is now available in Victoria. So far, 23 of about 27 clinics in the Greater Victoria area are participating.
Medimap, allows users to search wait times for all participating walk-in clinics. The website also displays an online map, and allows users to scroll down a list of nearby clinics to see a clinic’s address, hours of operation, and location in relation to other clinics.
The site can be accessed by computer, smartphone or tablet and is very simple to use:
- The walk-in clinics update Medimap with their estimated wait time.
- Patients search for walk-in clinics by city or by clicking “use my location” to find the nearest clinics.
- The walk-in clinics are then displayed in order of wait time, so you can get the most immediate access to care. It also tells you if the clinic is at capacity for the day.
The company says it is working on an app and the plans are to keep the service free for both the clinic and patients.
