Man wanted for homicide in Edmonton may be on Vancouver Island

Edmonton police have issued a Canada-wide warrant for 26-year-old Austin Mackenzie Southworth, who they believed was involved in the murder of a man whose body was found in a field, earlier in 2016.

The arrest warrant was issued on Wednesday afternoon and homicide investigators believe Southworth may be on Vancouver Island.

Southworth is wanted on charges of second-degree murder in connection with the death of 37-year-old Brad McDonald whose body was found in an Edmonton field near Stony Plain Road and Winterburn Road on April 10 at around 8:30 a.m.

The Edmonton medical examiner later confirmed that MacDonald died as a result of blunt force trauma.

Police said Southworth is also wanted on charges of possession of a dangerous weapon and robbery in addition to second-degree murder.

Southworth is described as a having green eyes, short brown hair and light facial hair. He is  about 5’7” and weighing 140 lbs. He has several tattoos including a tattoo on his left hand which reads “brothair,” a full sleeved tattoo with tribal markings covering his right arm, as well as star-shaped tattoos across the front of his neck.

Police say they believe he be driving a blue, 2004 Mazda MPV minivan with Alberta license plate BPB 4769 and the van may have a broken driver’s side window.
