The robots have arrived – downtown McDonald’s marches towards automation

The robots have finally arrived at the downtown Victoria McDonald’s restaurant, on Douglas St.

It’s the latest outlet to see an automated kiosk system installed to speed line-ups, decrease ordering errors, and reduce labour costs.

The Toronto Star reported last year that the kiosks are eventually coming to all 1,400 of the chain’s stores in Canada, and pegs the installation cost at $200,000 per location.
