A magnitude 4.2 earthquake struck northeast of Powell River Saturday morning.
The seismic event occurred around 6:40 a.m.
According to Earthquakes Canada, quake had a modest depth of 17 km. The epicentre was 118 km northeast of Campbell River.

The tremor was felt in Port Alberni, Gibsons, Victoria, and other cities in the region.
