Commuter rail connecting the West Shore to downtown Victoria expected

Share

A news conference will take place tomorrow at 9 am at the E&N Train stop at the corner of Admirals and Colville, which was announced late today by the province.

It is expected that the Minister of Transportation Todd Stone will announce commuter rail is returning to the Capital Region.

Back in December, the developer behind Bayview Place said he wanted to revive the E&N Rail corridor between Vic West and Langford.

Under the proposal, trains would run every half-hour during peak hours, then less frequently through the rest of the day.

The rail service would connect the West Shore to downtown Victoria and attract between 800 to 1,200 commuters daily.

One-way tickets would cost $3 to $4.

More details will be available tomorrow.
