Saanich planning department wants YOUR feedback on the latest concepts for Uptown-Douglas corridor

Share

Here’s your chance to have a say in what the Uptown – Douglas community is going to look like in the future!

In January, the City of Saanich hosted a Community Design Workshop, where participants started brainstorming ideas on how to develop the Uptown – Douglas Corridor over the next 30 years.

These plans will now be made available to you – the public – so they can get your feedback on how to proceed!

So the Saanich Planning Department is hosting a drop-in open house session tomorrow (Thursday, April 20th), from 1pm to 8pm at the Uptown Shopping Centre, Unit #105.

Can’t make it to the open house but still want to make your voice heard? No problem! Click here to access the virtual open house and survey that you can fill out.

Some of the goals that the city wants to achieve include creating a central landmark transit hub that would make travel more convenient; implementing more natural infrastructures into the area to convert it from grey to green; and creating more engaging public spaces for everyone to enjoy.

“The vision for the project is to create a heart for Saanich as a vibrant place to live, work, shop and explore,” says Shari Holmes-Saltzman, Senior Planner at the District of Saanich Planning Department.

Over the past 5 years, the Uptown-Douglas Corridor has seen a significant growth (8.5%) in the number of people who live and work there, and is one of the most integral parts of the city.

So don’t forget to take this opportunity to let the city know what you want it to look like in the next few decades!
