Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the southern Vancouver Island.
Gusty southeasterly winds are expected to hit the south coast late Friday morning .
Winds are forecast to rise over west of Vancouver Island, Victoria and the Southern Gulf Islands then spread to the remainder of the inner South Coast in the afternoon.
Wind gusts have the potential to exceed 80 km/h at times.
Winds are likely to remain quite strong through Friday evening.
