Family Sport & Recreation Festival

  • What: Encouraging families to be more active and introducing kids to over 30 activities to try out, including rock climbing, obstacle course, tennis, rugby, adapted sports and more.
  • When: Saturday May 6 from 11:00am – 3:00pm
  • Where: Pacific Institute for Sports Excellence, 4371 Interurban Road

Allterra Construction & Environmental Night

  • What: Featuring Wayne’s Trucking super sprint, The Keg Steakhouse & Bar Lake model driver challenge twin 50’s, Galaxy Motors stock cars and dwarf cars.
  • When: Saturday, May 6, grandstands open at 4:30 pm
  • Where: Western Speedway
  • Admission: $15/adults, $10/youth and senior, $7/kids (age 7-12), $35/family pass (2 adults, 4 kids), $49/triple 6 special (6 admissions, 6 hotdogs, 6 coca-cola)

Roller Derby! Hard Cores and Villains

  • What: Watch the girls in action! Cold beer and cider are available for purchase, 50/50 raffles, half time entertainment and much more.

The Schoolhouse Market – Grand Opening

  • What: Local artisans, entertainment, and family fun. Food vendors on site.

Beach Food Saturday

  • What: Food trucks are back for another season. The Crispy Fish and Greek on the Street will open from 11:00 am – 7:00 pm and L’Authentique Poutine & Burgers will be open from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm
  • When: Saturday May 6 from 11:00am – 7:00pm
  • Where: Esquimalt Lagoon, Colwood

Duck Days at the Sooke Flats

  • What: Adopt a duck to race down the river. Duck races, crafts, cupcake decorating, games, bouncy castle and more. Concession will be open. Proceeds to help send kids to Easter Seals Camp Shawinigan and Canadian Diabetes Camp Kakhamela.
  • When: Saturday May 6 from 11:00am – 3:00pm
  • Where: Sooke River Flats, 2259 Phillips Road
  • Duck Adoption Fee: $5 each or $20 for a “Quack Pack,” sold at Pemberton Holmes or the campground office.

Neighbour Day celebrations at Government House

  • What: Government House will be hosting its monthly public tours in celebration of Neighbour Day which, this year in Greater Victoria, is celebrated on Sunday, May 7, 2017. It’s an opportunity to meet and greet the people with whom we share our neighbourhood, fences, and walls.
  • When: Saturday, May 6, 2017 – 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.
  • Where: Government House – 1401 Rockland Ave.

World Naked Gardening Day

  • What: An annual international event celebrated on the first Saturday of May by gardeners and non-gardeners alike.A  day that celebrates weeding, planting flowers and trimming hedges in the buff.

The 20th annual Times Colonist Book Sale

  • What: Get ready to fill your book shelves, and help literacy projects on Vancouver Island at the same time. Volunteers have sorted hundreds of thousands of books that were donated to the Times Colonist Book Drive, and the Victoria Curling Club will be packed with possibilities at the book sale
  • When: Saturday, May 6 & Sunday, May 7, 2017
  • Where: Victoria Curling Club – 1952 Quadra St., behind the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre

Walk So Kids Can Talk

  • What: Help Raise funds to support Kids Help Phone. The 5km walk begins at 11:00 am, followed by a BBQ at noon.
  • When: Sunday, May 7
  • Where: Songhees Point Park, 50 Songhees Road

Kids Run Victoria

  • What: Cheer on and support the runners as the make their way through a 1km and 5km course. Raising awareness of childhood cancers to support Pediatric Oncology for Vancouver Islands’ kids. Registration CLOSED.
  • When: Sunday May 7 from 10:00am – 12:00pm
  • Where: Tillicum Centre

10th Annual Emergency Preparedness Fair and Display

  • What: Fun and informative way to learn about how to prepare for an emergency. Emergency vehicles, equipment, and emergency supplies will be set up for viewing, as well as interactive activities for the kids. Food vendors on site, giveaways, and draws.
  • When: Sunday May 7 from 11:00am – 3:00pm
  • Where: Westshore Parks and Recreation (JDF areas parking lot)
  • Admission: FREE

Up, Up and Away – Grand Opening

  • What: Hosted by the Superheroes of Victoria. Superhero comics, action figures, and artwork will be on display. Draw your own superhero, test your superhero knowledge and much more.
  • When: Saturday May 6 from 12:00 – 2:00pm
  • Where: Sidney Museum & Archives, 2423 Beacon Avenue

19th Annual Ultimate Hobby & Toy Fair

  • What: BC’s largest toy and hobby fair. Vendors will be selling action figures, LEGO, vintage toys, models, barbs, Star Wars, GI Joe and a ton more cool toys. Local food vendors on site. Free door prize entry with admission and if you dress in costume you receive another entry.
  • When: Sunday May 7 from 9:00am – 3:00pm
  • Where: Pearkes Arena, 3100 Tillicum Road
  • Admission: $5/adult, children FREE

6th Annual Hike for Hospice

  • What: Take part in this scenic 3.5km event which begins at the inner harbour, to the ocean and back again. Raising funds and awareness for Victoria Hospice.
  • When: Sunday, May 7, check in at 9:00 am, hike begins at 10:00 am
  • Where: Fishermans’ Wharf Park

12th Annual British Vehicle Restoration Fair and Swap Meet

  • What: British “cars for sale.” Car club booths and displays, indoor displays, demonstrations and tech sessions. Spares, parts, tools, literature and collectibles.
  • When: Sunday May 7 from 10:00am – 3:00pm
  • Where: Heritage Acres, 7321 Lochside Drive
  • Admission: $3/general, under 12 years FREE

6th Annual Opus Outdoor Painting Challenge

  • What: Canada’s largest outdoor painting challenge. Artist of all ages and experience. Bring your own art supplies, and Opus will supply a free 8″x10″ canvas panel for you to create your artwork.
  • When: Sunday May 7 from 10:00am – 5:00pm
