The second last weekend has arrived before students head back to school. Finish the summer break right, here are 12 things to do around Victoria this weekend, from the RCMP Musical Ride and more.

Friday, August 25th

The Breakwater Barge

  • What: Local musicians, craft beer, cider, and wine all combined with that beautiful breakwater view. Kids are welcome!
  • When: 5pm-9:30pm.
  • Where: 201 Dallas Road
  • Cost: $2 with partial proceeds to local charities.

Cactus and Succulent Show and Sale

  • What: Take a break from flowers to discover the charm of cactuses and succulents!
  • When: 9:30am-9pm. (Saturday, 9:30-5pm.)
  • Where: Tillicum Centre
  • Cost: Free

High Times Cannabis Cup

  • What: More than just a music festival, it doubles as a cannabis trade show. Enjoy epic music, the magic of festivals, and some time to mellow out.
  • When: Started Thursday. Day passes available Friday-Sunday.
  • Where: Laketown Ranch in Cowichan Valley
  • Cost: $103.75 Friday & Saturday (day pass). $54.75 for Sunday (day pass).

Two RCMP Musical riders and horses will be at the BC Legislature

  • What: To build up the excitement ahead of the weekend’s performances, a couple of riders and horses decked out in performance attire will visit the Legislature lawns.
  • When: Friday, August 25 at 5 p.m
  • Where: Legislature lawns

Saturday, August 26th

RCMP Musical Ride at Topaz Park

  • What: The RCMP Musical Ride will offer a chance for families in Greater Victoria to enjoy a timeless Canadian tradition. 32 riders and their horses will perform complex and thrilling cavalry figures and drills choreographed to music.
  • When:
  • Where: Saturday, August 26, 2017, at 1:30 p.m.*
  • Cost: Donations being accepted on location or by online

* Entertainment by massed pipes and drums and the 5th Regiment Band starts at 1:30 p.m. with the Musical Ride commencing at 2:30 p.m.

Greekfest

  • What: Now in its 15th year, this family festival is put on by The Greek Community Society and is their biggest annual fundraiser! Soak up Greek culture while enjoying great live local entertainment, food and beverages!
  • When:  Aug 25th – 27th and Sept 1st  – 4th from 11am to 10pm
  • Where:
  • Cost:  Free

Art and music in the gardens

  • What: Three stages for musicians, up to fifty artists, and nine acres of gorgeous demonstration gardens to explore.
  • When: 10am-4pm.
  • Where: Horticulture Center of the Pacific (505 Quayle road)
  • Cost: Free

Movie Under the Maltworks: Fight Club

  • What: Catch a classic film, enjoy some brews, and take in the outdoor movie experience.
  • When: 9pm screening time, doors at 8pm.
  • Where: Phillips Brewing & Malting Co.
  • Cost: $20 includes film, beer, and “surprise”. 😮

FringeKids Fest 2017

  • What: An action packed, interactive event introducing young Fringers to live performance and a chance to unleash their creativitiy. Craft your own costume, watch live performances, enjoy interactive art projects, and check out the roving costumed performers.
  • When: Market Square
  • Where: 11am-4pm.
  • Cost: Free

Heckler’s Comedy: Ivan Decker

  • What: Live stand-up comedy from Ivan Decker, a “hilarious voice for the millennial generation.” His fun and silly approach to stand up often reveals the humor hiding in the everyday trials of today’s young adult with careful dissection, brilliant timing, and intelligent observation.
  • When: 9:00 pm
  • Where: Heckler’s Bar & Grill
  • Cost: $15

Sunday, August 27th

RCMP Musical Ride at Royal Roads University

  • What: The RCMP Musical Ride will offer a chance for families in Greater Victoria to enjoy a timeless Canadian tradition. 32 riders and their horses will perform complex and thrilling cavalry figures and drills choreographed to music.
  • When: Sunday, August 27, 2017, at 1:30 p.m.*
  • Where: Royal Roads University, Colwood
  • Live stream: If you can’t watch either show in person, tune into our Facebook page to watch the show live. We will go on-air shortly after 2pm.
  • Cost: Donations being accepted on location or by online

Saanich Sunday Farmer’s Market

  • What: Join local farmers and local enthusiasts for the last Saanich Sunday Market! Locally grown produce, prepared foods, and artisan crafts await! This will be the last market of the season.
  • When: 10am-2pm.
  • Where: Braefoot Park
  • Cost: Free
