The finale of Victoria Police’s web series Fighting Fentanyl may not have the swat teams or surveillance of previous episodes, but it does document a chilling discovery.

S/Sgt. Conor King and Cst. Matt Rutherford give viewers a glimpse of the deadly drug carfentanyl. According to King, the finding – which occurred in early August – is “deeply concerning”.

Conclusion of 7-Part Series

Today’s episode, The Fight Continues, concludes VicPD’s web series, which followed the tracking and arrest of an alleged fentanyl dealer who had set up shop in Victoria’s Quadra Village neighbourhood.

Past episodes showcased the entire investigation process, including surveillance and warrant execution techniques.

A Victoria man remains in custody.

Carfentanyl Came From Concurrent Investigation

But during the time period in which the filmed investigation was underway, VicPD’s Strike Force and Crime Reduction Unit officers arrested another fentanyl dealer who was observed breaching court-ordered conditions.

This second arrest led to the announcement that police had discovered the presence of carfentanyl – which is even deadlier than fentanyl – on Victoria’s streets.
