Gamers, comic lovers, sci-fi devotees, and super fans of all types finally have more than Halloween with which to showcase their intense fandom.

The first annual Capital City Comic Con is set for March 16-18, at the Victoria Conference Centre and Crystal Garden.

For three days, Victoria’s nerd culture will come to the forefront, with thousands of fans expected to join in a celebration of everything pop culture. Comics, toys, games, and a chance to meet celebrities from science fiction and fantasy worlds, await the many enthusiasts on British Columbia’s west coast.

Fans will have the Downtown Victoria Business Association, Tourism Victoria, and the National Toy Museum of Canada (represented by Cherry Bomb Toys) to thank for the massive project.

“This is exciting news for everyone who loves pop culture, cosplay, and meeting their screen heroes in person,” Candice Woodward of Cherry Bomb Toys said in a statement.

With Victoria’s thriving technology sector, the smorgasbord of gaming enthusiasts studying at UVic, and the plethora of collector’s stores, it’s easy to see the fit for such an event.

By drawing fans from around the west coast, organizers also hope to provide a staple event that will bring in visitors outside the traditional peak tourist season.

So, assemble your most dedicated friends, conjure up your finest of costumes, and get ready to show the world your favorite characters!
