A Victoria man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after officers responded to a report of a man with a handgun near the corner of Douglas and Fort streets.
Several witnesses near the area called 911 after they observed one man passing handgun to another.
Officers quickly secured the area and located the suspect. He was taken into custody without incident.
According to police, the man remarked to officers that he had a replica firearm in his backpack. They searched the bag and located a replica firearm believed to be an air gun.
The man was breaching conditions forbidding him to possess anything that resembles a firearm.
Charges are being considered.
