Archeologists unearth relics at the Johnson Street Bridge construction site

Share

The Johnson Street bridge has been associated with years of delays and problems, but its recent construction has revealed an unexpected surprise.

According to a CHEK News report, UVic archaeology professor Dr. Katherine Cook and several students from the university unearthed artifacts at the site that were buried for over a century.

A Thorpe & Co. ginger beer bottle from the 1890s was among the objects that were found at the digging site, along with ceramics and shoes.

These artifacts were displayed at the Royal B.C. Museum yesterday (Saturday, November 25th) at a one-day exhibit, in collaboration with the University of Victoria and about 30 students.
