Yesterday, the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP released some important information about the results of a search warrant executed at July, 2017.

The search on Rockridge Road, Duncan on July 8th yielded drugs, paraphernalia, and firearms.

After testing the drugs, Health Canada has just confirmed that they are fentanyl, carfentanil, cocaine, and methamphetamine.

38-year-old Eric Alexander Derish from Duncan, B.C. was arrested in connection with the search, and charged with 14 counts of firearm and drug possession.

His charges include four counts of possession of controlled substances of fentanyl, carfentanil, cocaine and methamphetamine; four counts of possession of a restricted firearm without being the holder of a licence; three counts of possession of a firearm with readily accessible ammunition; and three counts of possession of a firearm with serial number altered, defaced or removed.

Another man was also arrested during the search, but RCMP says he will not be charged.

There have been 1,103 suspected drug overdose deaths from January to the end of September this year, 83% of which involved fentanyl.
