9 things happening at Mayfair Shopping Centre over the Christmas season

Share

For the 2017 holiday season, Mayfair has been transformed like never before.

With spectacular holiday décor, roving caroling by the Linden Singers, pop-up stores, personal shoppers, and holiday lantern and wreath making workshops, the mall offers an endless supply of seasonal experiences.

And to give people more time to enjoy all the festivities, Mayfair has extended its shopping hours to 9:00 p.m. nightly (7:00 p.m. on Sundays).

Without further ado here are nine things happening at Mayfair Shopping Centre.

1 – “Paws & Claus” holiday pet portraits with Santa (Nov. 29, 6:00pm – 8:00pm)

Mayfair Mall Christmas

Pets are part of the family too, so why not treat them to a special portrait with Santa. For one night only, Santa is welcoming pets! 5” x 7” photos are by donation with proceeds going to BCSPCA Victoria Branch. Minimum suggested donation is $5 per pet.

2 – Gift Wrapping by donation to The Mustard Seed (Dec. 1)

Make Christmas a little easier by letting The Mustard Seed do the wrapping.

On December 1st, shoppers can visit the Gift Wrap Lounge located across from The Gap, and their Christmas wrapping experts will make packages look their Christmas best.

All donations go towards The Mustard Seed helping the less fortunate in Greater Victoria.

3 – Free Wreath-Making workshops (Dec. 1, 8 and 15, 6:00pm – 7:00pm)

Take holiday décor to the next level by learning to make a decorative Christmas wreath at one of three free workshops at Mayfair in Centre Court.

The wreath experts at Seaberry Garden & Flower will show everyone how, but space for these interactive workshops is limited so register by visiting, calling or texting Guest Services.

4 – Caroling by the Linden Singers (Dec. 7, 14, 21, 6:00pm – 8:00pm)

For 35 years the mixed-voice, multi-generational Linden Singers have shared their passion for choral music with audiences of all ages.

Catch them each Thursday in December as they perform throughout Mayfair singing favourite holiday classics.

5 – Holiday Luminaries Free Lantern workshops (Dec. 16, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm)

Harness the warm glow of candlelight by making a holiday lantern using paper bags and tea lights.

Professional crafters will show everyone how at a free lantern-making workshop at Mayfair Centre Court. The 20-minute workshops are free for kids and adults; one day only, December 16th.

6 – Sensitive Santa Dec. 16-17 (8:00am – 9:30am)

For children with autism and other sensory needs, seeing Santa amid the hustle and bustle of holiday shopping can be difficult.

On December 16th and 17th, Mayfair will offer a quiet time with Santa before the shopping centre opens.

With no line-ups, music and other distractions in the way, the children will get to spend more time with Santa who will interact with the children based on their individual needs.

7 – $5,000 Shopping Spree Contest (Nov. 18 – Dec. 24)

The only thing better than shopping at Mayfair is shopping for free at Mayfair.

One lucky winner will get to do just that with a Shopping Spree contest that will award $5,000 in Mayfair gift cards to use at any Mayfair retailer.

Contest opens on November 18 and closes on December 24. Participants can enter at Guest Services. One entry per person per day.

8 – CFAX Santas Anonymous Drop-off Location (Nov. 29 – Dec. 13)

The CFAX Santas Anonymous Society helps build Christmas hampers to put food on the table and gifts under the tree for thousands of children across Greater Victoria.

To make a monetary, toy or clothing donation, visit CFAX at the Toys “R” Us entrance.

9 – Victoria Shoebox Project Drop-off Location (Nov. 29 – Dec. 17)

The Shoebox Project for Shelters distributes gifts in shoeboxes to women who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness in Victoria.

Each shoebox is filled with items that can enhance self-esteem and reduce feelings of isolation for women in crisis.

Guests are invited to build a box and drop it off at guest services.
