Two unrelated Langford robberies occur within hours of one another

West Shore RCMP had a busy Tuesday afternoon after two unrelated robberies took place near in Langford within hours of each other.

The first alleged robbery took place at around 3:10 p.m. behind Cineplex movie theatre.

According to police, approximately seven youths were reportedly fighting behind the movie theatre. Police received information that a youth had his backpack stolen during the incident. All suspects fled the area when Police arrived.

West Shore RCMP, with the assistance of the Saanich PD K9 Division, located and arrested four youths in the area, and the backpack was recovered. Police believe the youths are familiar with each other.

Second youth robbed three hours later

At around 6:15 p.m., police said two suspects robbed another youth and threatened the individual with bear spray at the same location as the previous robbery.

Police said the suspects stole two necklaces and a cell phone.

Police arrested the two suspects – an 18-year-old man from Victoria and a 16-year-old youth from Esquimalt – in a nearby area. Both were held in custody for a court appearance.
