BC Ferries will go completely smoke-free in January

No more cigarettes anywhere on the ferry!

In an effort to promote a cleaner, healthier environment, BC Ferries has just announced the official day smoking will be banned at all of their locations.

This includes the terminals, vessels, and inside all vehicles aboard the ferries or on BC Ferries property.

The move was made as an effort to reduce the number of complaints about second-hand smoke, and applies to tobacco products as well as e-cigarettes and vapes.

These changes will take effect starting January 22nd, 2018, which is when passengers can spot no-smoking signs aboard the ship, as well as on the terminal.

“This new policy supports the health and wellness of our customers and our employees by
reducing exposure to second-hand smoke,” said Mark Collins, BC Ferries’ President and CEO.

“The policy aligns with other transportation services and ensures everyone using our services can breathe smoke-free air.”
