Clipper adding new high-speed ferry between Seattle and Victoria next spring

Share

Great news for travelers heading to and from Seattle!

The new high-speed ‘Clipper V’ ferry, originally slated for service between Vancouver and Victoria, will now be servicing Seattle and Victoria starting in the spring of 2018.

Plans to operate the high-speed catamaran between Victoria and Vancouver were scrapped after the company realized the Vancouver dock operational costs were too high.

The 52-meter (170 feet) vessel can carry up to 440 passengers and travel up to 36 knots or more than 65 kilometres per hour.

What you can expect on board the Clipper V

The ferry will have three types of service: Economy, Vista (window rows), and Comfort (business class).

For your entertainment, the vessel will be equipped with a gift and duty free shop filled with local products, an on-board menu with regional food and drinks, and Clipper’s signature in-seat service.

Comfort class travelers can also access leather seats, complimentary snacks and refreshments, and a large private cabin area.

“We’ve been huge supporters and contributors to Victoria and Seattle’s tourism sectors for more than 31 years,” said David Gudgel, CEO of Clipper, in a press release.

“In that time, Seattle has grown and changed significantly with increased demand for travel between the two cities. Victoria has also grown tremendously as a destination city with so many attractions to offer. Clipper V is the perfect vessel for us to provide an even better customer experience while matching market demand.”
