University of Victoria ranked 8th greenest campus in Canada

It’s true – UVic really is one of the most environmentally conscious campuses in Canada!

According to a report released by Corporate Knights, the University of Victoria scored the spot of 8th greenest campus, out of a total of 71 colleges and universities across Canada.

The index was measured by using data from the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS), where campuses can measure their sustainability performance by using the website’s self-reporting framework.

A total of 13 factors were used by Corporate Knight in determining which universities are the greenest, including clean air management, environment-friendly dining certification, waste management, green transportation, and sustainable investments.

So without much further ado, here are the Top 10 Greenest Campuses in Canada in 2017:

  1. University of Calgary, Alberta
  2. McGill University, Quebec
  3. Wilfrid Laurier University, Ontario
  4. MacEwan University, Alberta
  5. Dalhousie University, Nova Scotia
  6. University of British Columbia, British Columbia
  7. Simon Fraser University, British Columbia
  8. University of Victoria, British Columbia
  9. Western University, Ontario
  10. University of Ontario Institute of Technology, Ontario
