Victoria Royals looking for revenge against Prince George tonight

Share

The Victoria Royals started the second half of the season on the wrong side of the scoreboard, in an incredibly fast-paced and entertaining game against the Prince George Cougars.

The match was off to a blistering start, with six goals scored just 15 minutes in, treating fans to a 3-3 hockey game. Matthew Phillips, Tyler Soy, and Dante Hannoun were each sporting two-point games by the end of the first period.

The first period adjustments the Cougars made appeared to work, however, as the Royals’ offensive output would dry up for the remainder of the game – despite launching 14 shots in the 3rd period. Along with the high octane offense displayed by both teams, bad blood was evident. The teams combined for 12 roughing penalties in an overall chippy affair.

Prince George would go on to score a goal in both the second and third periods, handing the Royals a 5-3 loss.

Royals look to improve to on rocky month of December

After coming out flying in September and October with a 12-4-1 start, and staying afloat in November with a 6-5-1 record, the month of December hasn’t gone as planned. The Royals have posted just a 2-5-1 record so far.

The Royals split a two-game series up in Prince George in mid-December, with the teams exchanging 5-4 victories. Victoria traditionally has had the Cougars’ number, and with 5 more matchups this season, will look to continue that trend.
