Victoria author publishes new bestseller about the impact of sports on the economy

27-year-old Justin Bedi has just self-published a new book, and it looks like it’s a slam dunk!

Born and raised in Victoria, B.C., Bedi has always been interested in sports and business, and has found a humorous and informative way to combine the two in his new book, “Sports are worth how much?! And other questions in pro sports answered (kind of)“.

Here’s what it’s all about

In it, he answers questions we’ve all wondered about. Like should taxpayers pay for sports arenas? Why is hockey so important to Canada? What are fantasy sports, and why is everyone so interested in them?

The book was released on November 28th, and took Bedi just six months to write, edit, and proofread.

Its content, style, and humour obviously appealed to a lot of people, because after being released for just one week, it made it’s way into the Top 10 Bestselling new books in Football, and Top 12 Bestselling new books in Basketball categories.

About the Author

Justin Bedi got his bachelor’s degree at the University of Victoria – he majored in Political Science with a minor in journalism. He then went on to acquire his master’s degree at the University of Saskatchewan, where he focused on international trade.

Around this time, Bedi wrote an opinion piece for the Vancouver Sun about why the Canadian economy needs more sports.

When it gained a lot of interest and CBC asked him to do an interview about his views on the subject, Justin knew he had to expand on the topic for his target audience.

And that is how his new book was born.

Just in time for Christmas

“Sports are worth how much?!” is currently available on Amazon. It was released just in time for Christmas, so whether you want to treat yourself or a loved one, now is the perfect time to grab a copy!

After his success with his first book, Justin plans to keep writing and working to expand on ideas in public policy and economics – so we look forward to keeping an eye out for his next project!
