Tofino Bus are crowdsourcing their name change and “Jeff” is in the lead

You’d think after the viral sensation of Boaty McBoatface, or a Nanaimo garbage truck named “Mommy”, asking the public to vote on vehicle names would’ve gone out of style.

But despite the risks, Tofino Bus still decided to crowdsource a name change… and the results are as hilarious as you’d expect.

As of Friday morning, the post had over 1600 comments, a huge portion of which were in favour of one name: Jeff.

“If you look at a few of the posts, some of them are actually pretty funny. Some of them have put some time into coming up with clever ideas,” Darcy Lefebvre, Tofino Bus’s Marketing Director, told CTV News.

The company will be taking suggestions for the rest of the month, before choosing a new name in February.

The company is now providing service three times a day between Victoria, Nanaimo, Parksville, Buckley Bay, Courtenay and Campbell River, with additional routes to Port McNeill, Port Hardy and connections to Vancouver.
