On Saturday, February 10th, a 27-year old man died in a surfing accident off Long Beach near Tofino.
According to a CHEK News report, the incident occurred at around 3:40 PM and the BC Coroner’s Service is yet to release specific details of what happened.
A Victoria Buzz reader has just confirmed that the man, named Nijin John, was a PhD researcher at the University of Victoria.
The 27-year-old hails from India, which is why a GoFundMe account has been set up in order to help his family transport his body back to his hometown.
At the time of writing this article, over $10,000 of the $15,000 goal has been raised within 8 hours.
