Share

A new law program at the University of Victoria will be the first in the world to combine the intensive study of both Indigenous and non-Indigenous law.

Students in the new four-year joint-degree program will graduate with two professional degrees, one in Canadian Common Law and one in Indigenous Legal Orders.

Their education will benefit areas such as environmental protection, Indigenous governance, economic development, housing, child protection and education.

The provincial government announced $2 million in funding in the provincial government’s February budget.

The first group of students in the program will begin their studies in September 2018.
