The Sidney / North Saanich RCMP detachment are searching for the driver of a car that was seen travelling the wrong direction on the Pat Bay Highway Wednesday.

Police said they received a report at around 6:45 p.m. of a vehicle travelling south towards Victoria in what was the northbound travel lane near the McTavish overpass.

As officers made their way to the location, a vehicle heading northbound swerved from the passing lane into the adjacent lane to avoid hitting the car and hit another car.

Witnesses say the vehicle pulled a U-turn immediately after the crash and exited on the McTavish exit.

It is believed the car was a late model A4 Audi. No license plate number was recorded.

One of the vehicles involved in the crash was inoperative and had to be towed away. The driver sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sidney North Saanich RCMP at 250-656-3931 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
