Share

On Saturday, March 31st at around 2:30 AM, Bryan Rowley was on Douglas Street when he was allegedly attacked for no reason.

According to Victoria Police, Rowley immediately lost consciousness and was transported to the hospital after suffering ‘potentially life-threatening injuries’.

Facebook updates from his twin brother, Rick Rowley, confirmed that Bryan was punched in the head and hit the ground off the pavement. He was taken to the ICU and regained consciousness later that night.

A more recent post on April 1st stated that he was diagnosed with a brain contusion and will be “out of school/work indefinitely”.

Community support

Rick also set up a GoFundMe page to raise $1,000 in an effort to cover his brothers’ wage losses. Within two days, friends, family, and community members went above and beyond that limit: the account has gathered $4,500 so far.

Victoria Police were able to apprehend the suspect involved in the assault and take him into custody right away. The investigation is ongoing and Forensic Identification Services officers, and Investigative Services Detectives have been called in to help conduct it.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the VicPD’s non-emergency line at (250) 995-7654. Call Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers at 1(800) 222-8477 to report what you know anonymously.
