Victoria Royals win in overtime to force game 7 tomorrow night at home

Share

We’re heading to a decisive game 7 at Save-On Foods Memorial Center Tuesday night.

The Victoria Royals needed overtime to solve the Giants in game 6, but the trio of Matthew Phillips, Dante Hannoun, and Noah Gregor were complete dynamite, as they combined for 9 points (including all 4 goals) in a thrilling 4-3 overtime win.

Gregor capped an excellent night with the overtime snipe and 2 assists, Captain Matthew Phillips was in on every goal, recording 2 goals and 2 assists, and Hannoun finished the night with a goal and an assist.

Griffen Outhouse was incredible, stopping 40 of 43 shots despite seeing a multitude of grade “A” scoring opportunities, and was perfect on all six Giants’ overtime attempts.

The Giants had their big guns show up and largely controlled the play, outshooting Victoria 43-20. Vancouver captain Tyler Benson scored twice and goal scoring machine Ty Ronning finally found his first goal of the post-season, but Outhouse stood tall.

Both teams will have a quick turnaround from game 6, with game 7 slated for tomorrow night at Save-On-Foods Memorial Center.

The puck will drop at 7:05pm tomorrow!
