Saturday, April 7th

Rick Rivet

What: Exploding with colour and a dreamlike state of representation, Rick Rivet’s solo exhibition captivates the imagination. It’s the feeling of forgetting something that’s just on the tip of your tongue. Like feeling the weight of an un-experienced history that draws you in. Working in his distinctive style in mixed media on canvas, this exhibition truly captures the multi-faceted sides of the artist to shine.

Housekeeping Job Fair – Hotel Grand Pacific

What: This position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of guest rooms as well as addressing and following up on any guest concerns and acting as an ambassador for the hotel. Starting wage is $16.59 per hour then $20.93 after six months!

Tartan Day

What: The Victoria Highland Games Association is putting on a Tartan Day event! The choir will be helping to man the VHGA Tartan Day booth and will be singing at 330pm. Come down and say “Ciamer a tha sibh!

Brent Butt

What: Butt became known in Canada for his clean and relaxed comedic style, and after several tv specials, he created CORNER GAS in 2004, and starred in the role of Brent Leroy. The series was an instant hit for CTV, becoming the top sitcom on Canadian television and eventually aired in 26 countries. Butt was voted the “Funniest show on TV” by TV Guide readers.

Game 2: Victoria Royals vs. Tri-City Americans

What: Game 1 was a little rough, come cheer on your local Victoria Royals as they battle it against the Tri-City Americans! Make noise and let the Victoria Royals know that you have their backs as they being game 2 of round 2!

Sunday, April 8th

April Showers Flea Market

What: Don’t let the chance of rain spoil your weekend outing. Sunday is the most social day of the week and at the VFM everyone is invited to the party. Come alone or bring the gang, either way, you’ll feel welcome as soon as you walk into the warm and inviting atmosphere of Victoria’s biggest and best indoor-outdoor flea market. Make a stop at the flea part of your Sunday ritual before or after brunch and bring the kids along too for free.

Kaleidoscope’s Toy and Book Drive

The Olate Dogs

What: The all-new LIVE theatrical show includes the infamous jumping rope, twirling spinning and fun-loving Olate Dogs made famous on America’s Got Talent… but there’s much more. Sooke Philharmonic Orchestra Royal Feast

What: The concert title Royal Feast was chosen as both works indeed serve up a “feast” for the ears.  The music is celebratory in nature, and yet full of contrasts.  “While the Mozart work provides a  satisfying main course, the shorter Handel anthems could be envisioned as a 4-helping dessert!”, remarked Fairbank.
