An Esquimalt woman was transported to hospital Tuesday night after driving her vehicle through a fence and striking multiple vehicles in an Esquimalt apartment parking lot.

Police were called to the 900-block of Carleton Terrace around 9 p.m. after receiving several reports of a collision involving two properties and multiple vehicles.

When officers arrived, they discovered that one car had been involved in a collision that spanned two neighbouring properties and damaged multiple vehicles.

In a Facebook message, Joni Birdie Oldhoff told Victoria Buzz her husband saw the woman crash through the fence, and he attended to her right away.

“When he helped her from the car she appeared very confused,” Oldhoff said.

“He said she went full speed through one side of the fence onto the lawn of another building and then went full speed through another part of the same fence, hit a tree and then hit another car,” Oldhoff added.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and was transported to hospital for medical evaluation.

Witnesses told Victoria Buzz the woman appeared to be in her 50s or 60s.

Police said there is no indication that drug or alcohol impairment is a factor.

Her driver’s license was seized pending a review. There were no injuries.
