3 gorgeous local parks you have to go camping at this summer (VIDEOS)

The Victoria Day long weekend may be coming to an end, but summer is just getting started!

We’re lucky enough to live on an island surrounded by gorgeous beaches and local parks, some of which are perfect for camping overnight. So don’t let your busy schedule stand in the way of spending some quality time in the great outdoors!

Here’s a list of three campgrounds in and around Greater Victoria that are close enough to home, but still a part of a whole other world.

1. Island View Beach Regional Park

This idyllic setting is the perfect spot for a family BBQ on the beach, and offers panoramic views of the open ocean. Experience the fresh, salty sea breeze, as you camp out under the night sky – all just a quick drive away from town! This campground also has a new online reservation system – click here for more information.

2. Jordan River Regional Park

This year-round campground is nestled in between the forest and the deep blue sea (or the Juan de Fuca Strait). You can find one of Vancouver Island’s most popular attractions, Sandcut Beach, at this park. This campground operates on a first come first serve basis.

3. Sooke Potholes Regional Park

And if the ocean isn’t your cup of tea, head over to Sooke Potholes Regional Park for more foliage and hiking options. Take a dip in the potholes if the sun gets too strong – it’s the recipe for a perfect weekend! This campground also operates on a first come first serve basis.
