5 things to do in and around Victoria today, Friday May 4th

Share

Q: Why did Anakin Skywalker cross the road?

A: To get to the Dark Side.

Here are 5 things to do in and around Victoria today!

9to5: The Musical

What: A hilarious story of friendship and revenge based on the seminal 1980 film and featuring all new songs by Dolly Parton. Follow Violet, Judy, and Doralee as they live out their wildest fantasies of getting even with their sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot of a boss, Franklin Hart. Outrageous, thought-provoking and even a little romantic, 9to5:The Musical is about teaming up and taking care of business.
Where: McPherson Playhouse
3 Centennial Square
When: 8 pm – 10:30 pm
Cost: Get your tickets here!

The High Quadra Ramblers at Spiral Cafe

What: The Ramblers are playing Spiral Cafe! Come on out for a foot stompin time at one of our favorite little cafes with a sweet atmosphere.
They’ll be playing some new tunes, some familiar tunes, some trippy tunes – it’s hard to say what universe you’ll end up in, really.
Where: Spiral Cafe
418 Craigflower Road
When: 7 pm – 9 pm
Cost: $10 – $15

A Farkin’ Jazz Conspiracy

What: Let the music flow through you, and guide your feet on the dance floor. Sing along to words you know so well, for so many songs, and they will be sure to add some fun new material for your hearing pleasure!
Where: The Loft Pub
229 Gorge Road East
When: 7:30 pm – 11 pm
Cost: $5 cover

Sitka presents Susan Simmons: Swimming The Great Bear Sea

What: Join Sitka and Pacific Wild for an evening with ultra-marathon swimmer Susan Simmons as she shares stories of her adventures swimming through the Great Bear Rainforest – without a wetsuit. Susan Simmons is a Victoria local who twenty years ago was diagnosed with MS. She has since taken to cold water swimming in order to lessen her symptoms that are aggravated when she begins to overheat while exercising. In July of last year, she successfully swam across the Juan de Fuca Strait, from Port Angeles to Victoria, as a fundraiser for the MS Wellness Centre.
Where: Sitka Victoria
1219 Government St
When: 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm
Cost: By donation!

Wet Coast Burlesque Presents: Nerdlesque!

What: Are you missing your home planet of Galifrey? Longing for a halfling druid to soothe all your worries away? Perhaps you’ve been too long aboard the USS Enterprise and need a night out that isn’t in the holodeck. Whatever your fandom of choice, we’ve got you covered. Or rather, un-covered? Come on May the Fourth for their geekiest show yet. Lust long and prosper.
Where: Victoria Event Centre
1415 Broad Street
When: Doors open at 7:30 pm
Cost: $20 – $30
