GoFundMe started for Saanich couple who lost home in house fire

A GoFundMe page has been started for Kristy and Dustin Williams, and their four-month-old baby Luke, who lost their Royal Oak home this week after it caught fire.

The fundraiser has set a goal of $8,000, and has raised just shy of $6,000 as of Thursday afternoon.

“Words simply can not express how grateful and touched our family is. It brings us to tears on how much love and support has been coming our way,” Kristy told Victoria Buzz.

The family was left with nothing but the clothes on their backs, and are now trying  to find a new place to live.

“We are lucky enough to be staying in one spot for a few days, so we are hoping to be able to look up some more houses for rent,” Kristy said.

Kristy and Dustin’s son has Cystic Fibrosis, which requires special treatment and care. Costs associated with the medication Luke needs are expensive and not all covered, and for the next two years, he will require a $6,000 injection per year.

Kristy says while the funds raised will go towards anything necessary to get back on their feet, “our first priority is looking after Luke.”
