Man dies in fiery crash on Cowichan Valley Highway

A man died on Thursday, May 3, following a motor vehicle collision that started on fire on the Cowichan Valley Highway near Paldi Road.

North Cowichan Duncan RCMP were called to assist the Cowichan Valley Fire Service just after 11 a.m. after a four-door Toyota Tercel going westbound suddenly veered off the highway.

A lone occupant was found deceased inside the vehicle. The identity of the occupant has not yet been determined.

The investigation into the cause of the collision is being led by the South Vancouver Island Traffic Services (SVITS) with assistance from the North Cowichan Duncan RCMP and the BC Coroners Service.

Investigators are asking that anyone with information, or who may have witnessed the incident and not yet spoken to police, to  contact the SVITS at 250-416-0352 and site file 2018-110.
