2018 Spring Organic Plant Sale

What: The Compost Education Centre (CEC) is hosting our 16th annual all-organic spring plant sale! The event is on Saturday May 12th, 10am-2pm at the CEC demonstration site at 1216 North Park Street. The Spring Organic Plant Sale features local farmers offering a wide variety of organically grown vegetable, flower and herb seedlings to get you off to a successful start this growing season.

Third Annual Oaklands Street Party & Garage Sale Day

What: Join the Oaklands Community Association at Oaklands Community Centre for a jam-packed, family-friendly day. Start your day off with a $5 pancake breakfast at Oaklands Community Centre from 8-9:30 am. The Street Party runs from 12-4 pm and features music, food trucks (Jackson’s Ice Cream, Tamales Don Carlos, Saltchuck Pie Company and more), a bouncy castle, face painting, colouring contest (with a chance to win some Market Bucks for the Oaklands Sunset Market), family-friendly activities by Victoria Symphony and Sportball Victoria, beer garden featuring Hoyne Brewing Company and Sea Cider Farm & Ciderhouse and garage sales across the whole neighbourhood.

Working Studio Art Show

What: An ambitious exhibition showcasing the work of 11 artists. The title “Working Studio” derives from the fact that artists will be painting on site throughout the event. The works in the show express diverse styles and subject matter, ranging from abstract to figurative and representational. Members of the Zebra Art Collective have displayed their work locally at juried and non-juried shows, as well as in galleries, cafes, and the Victoria airport.

Esquimalt Buccaneer Days Parade

What: Bands, Floats, and Pirates Oh My!! Everyone loves a parade. The annual Buccaneer Days Parade starts at Dominion St. at 10:00am and heads down Esquimalt Rd. to Admirals. It’s been a community favorite for generations.

Oak Bay Village Spring Nosh

What: Oak Bay Village is celebrating spring’s arrival with a mini food fest. Check out fresh flavours and seasonal bites while enjoying live music, beverage garden and socializing with friends and neighbours.
Sample bites are $2 each and larger portions available for various prices. A range of food will be available including charcuterie, seafood including spot prawns, sausage barbecue, fish and chips and more.

Mother’s Day Breakfast Kids Cooking Demo

What: Bring your kids down to the Market for this FREE Kid’s Cooking Demo. Mike Haddow, from GoodLife Fitness, will be teaching the kids how to make a simple Mother’s Day breakfast!

Blue Moon Marquee

What: Blue Moon Marquee is a Gypsy Blues band that stem from the wild rose foothills of Alberta. A.W. Cardinal (vocals/guitar) and Jasmine Colette a.k.a. Bandlands Jass (vocals, bass, drums) write and perform original compositions influenced by anything that swings, jumps or grooves.

Esquimalt Buccaneer Days Dance

What: The ever-popular, annual, Buccaneer Days Dance. This is a 19+ event as alcohol will be available. Join us on the evening of May 12th to dance the night away to the rockin’ tunes of Rocksteady and Consenting Adults.

Mother’s Day Workshop

What: Free Spirit Botanicals is hosting a workshop for Mother’s Day. You’ll be making Rose bath salts, and discussing the amazing benefits of all the ingredients. You will also get a custom made jar of the bath salts to take home!

Qi YogaFlow – Karma Class

The James Bay Community Market

Plant Based Cheese Making

Join us for the 23rd Royal Roads University Mother’s Day Paint-in and Craft Fair and share in this remarkable community outdoor festival. Take a stroll in the heritage gardens and watch the plein air painters capture the magic of this special place.
