Share

Three men were involved in an altercation in downtown Victoria, leaving two of them suffering from non-life threatening injures.

The incident occurred just after 2 a.m. on Tuesday, May 29th. Victoria Police were called to Johnson and Government Streets where they found the three men and the two who were injured were taken to the hospital to be treated.

Officers believe that the three men were first involved in a fight outside a nightclub in the 500-block of Yates Street shortly before they encountered each other again (whether by chance or on purpose is not clear yet) in the 1400-block of Government Street. This is where the assault and injuries took place.

Investigative Services Division Forensic Identification Unit investigators and detectives were on site collecting evidence and speaking to witnesses. All three men involved have been taken into custody.

Police believe that alcohol was a factor in the incident and that the public at large is not in danger.

The investigation is currently ongoing, and police are seeking witnesses to the incident who were in the area at the time and have not yet come forward.
