A local man was taken into custody after he sexually assaulted a woman on a BC Transit bus.
The incident occurred on Monday, May 21st, at about 1 PM on a #50 bus at the intersection of Douglas and Burnside Road, near Ricky’s Restaurant.
The victim reported that the man, who was a stranger to her, sexually assaulted her after which she told him to stop and then alerted the BC Transit operator to what had happened.
The operator then stopped the bus, called the police and stayed with the victim while other passengers made sure the perpetrator did not get off the vehicle.
He is now in police custody and the investigation is currently ongoing. The victim in question was not physically injured during the encounter.
