Victoria Police respond to bizarre robbery involving baby formula

Share

Victoria Police officers were called to a rather strange incident last night.

At about 5 PM on Monday, May 7th, an older couple was near Bolen Books at Hillside Mall when they were approached by a man who repeatedly asked them for money to buy baby formula.

When they refused to give him the cash, he made threatening comments which scared the victims into handing over a small sum of money.

The suspect then fled the scene, after which the uninjured but dazed victims reported the incident to the police.

Officers have reason to believe that similar incidents may have happened to other victims who have not come forward yet.

The suspect is described as a “well-groomed” Caucasian man in his 30s with a small build, standing 5’9″ inches tall. He had short, dark brushed back hair, a dark moustache and beard. He was wearing a black sport coat and black pants.

Anyone that has any information about this or a similar unreported incident, or knows about the suspect is requested to inform Victoria Police by calling their non-emergency line at (250) 995-7654. To report what you know anonymously, contact Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
