Eyes of Society Public Opening

What: Eyes of Society: Art, Traditional Knowledge, and the Watchmen of Haida Gwaii, is a collection of thirty artworks by ten Haida and non-indigenous artists to be featured at the Robert Bateman Centre this summer. Coming from different regional and cultural backgrounds, these artists explore their ‘sense of place’ on the islands of Haida Gwaii through their own artistic traditions. Through art, language and beliefs, they investigate the notion that artists, traditionally, have been the “eyes of society.”

Victoria Shamrocks vs Maple Ridge Burrards for Alumni Night

What: Join your Victoria Shamrocks at they take on the Burrards on ALUMNI NIGHT presented by Jenner Chevrolet Corvette Buick GMC with a tailgate at 5:30 and watch as they retire another Shamrocks jersey into the rafters!

Comic-book Superheroes and Our Culture

What: This fun and educational exhibit shows how comic-book superheroes emerged in the 1930’s and how they continued to reflect our culture and values through the WW 2 years, post-war Boom, the 1960’s and 1970’s. On display will be superhero comic-books, action figures and art work.

Succulent Crate Workshop

What: In this workshop you will learn how to work with FAT Paint & FAT Waxes. Kristi from Belle & Bee Vintage Reloved (the paint stockist) will guide you through the steps of layering different FAT Paint product to create a natural patina on your wood crate & terra cotta pots. Two succulents will be provided per person to finish off your beautiful project as well as a light snack & refreshments.

Friday Nights on the Breakwater Barge

What: Be on the Breakwater Barge every Friday from May 25 to Sept 28 and enjoy food trucks, cold libations such as local craft beer by Phillips, Hoyne & Driftwood, Sea Cider & The Artisan Wine Shop. Dance to Victoria’s finest live music. The Breakwater Barge is nestled between Victoria’s Iconic Breakwater and magnificent cruise ships. Family Friendly (kids 5 and under free) . No Pets.
