There’s a gnome hunt happening at Butchart Gardens this weekend

Share

With their pointy hats, big beards, and tiny stature, garden gnomes have become an iconic staple of gardens worldwide.

But at Butchart Gardens, the little fellas have broken lose, and it’s up to you to find them!

The hunt is on starting this Friday, June 15, and will continue all weekend for young sleuths to locate the missing gnomes.

Children 17 and under will collect a map at the Visitor Centre, find the gnomes in the garden, and return to receive a special treat.

Admission to the gardens is required to participate.

The weekend’s events are a celebration of gardens nationwide

The gnome hunt is part of Canada’s Garden Days, a nine-day national event that celebrates the country’s gardens and the role they play in our day-to-day lives.

Garden centres, community organizations, horticultural and plant societies, and other garden-related groups can organize Garden Days events and activities to celebrate public gardens and home gardening.

Along with the gnome hunt, Butchart Gardens will also host greenhouse tours on Sunday, June 17, at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., and 2 p.m.

Tours are based on availability, so call 250-652-4422 to reserve.

Maybe you’ll spot a gnome or two while you’re out there!
