alt pride: festival of resilience

What: alt pride is an alternative pride organizing collective that hosts a series of events that centre the voices and experiences of those largely left-out of mainstream pride movements. Their events are prioritized to be free, accessible, intersectional, and family-friendly. Typically, alt pride kicks off with a march and festival on the saturday before Victoria Pride. This year, however, they will be honouring their capacities and spoons and doing what they can and doing it fabulously. They will only be having a festival, they believe that resistance can be done in many forms, and they hope to do that through a community oriented way. While they still see the value of protest and resistance through marches many of us are disabled/neurodivergent/chronically ill/mentally ill and they believe one big festival is the best way to resist while being accessible; our communities are resilient and we show that everyday by existing.
