This boxer needs our help to heal his broken heart—literally

Share

Animal lovers, your time to shine is now.

Duke is a three-year-old red boxer who wants to play and have fun. He’s an obedient, well-mannered dog who loves humans and trying to play with other dogs.

We say ‘try’ because, sadly, Duke has an under-developed aorta that causes a severe heart murmur. As a result, his heart struggles to pump blood to the rest of his body when he’s active, and he has trouble breathing after just a minute or two of playing.

Right now, Duke is staying at the BC SPCA North Cariboo branch. To help him get better, the SPCA is transferring him to the Lower Mainland for special cardiac surgery, after which he’ll remain in the SPCA’s care until he fully recovers.

The SPCA is trying to raise $14,540 for Duke’s treatment, and have raised almost one third of that at time of writing. Personal updates of Duke will be provided to anyone who donates to his campaign once it closes.

Let’s help Duke out so he can play at his new home!

And who knows? Maybe that home will be right here in Victoria!
