NDP leader Jagmeet Singh will be marching in the Victoria Pride Parade

Victoria Pride Week is upon us, and this year’s Pride parade has a noteworthy new guest.

The 25th Annual Victoria Pride Parade, hosted by the Victoria Pride Society is one of many such events held around the world to celebrate the LGBTQ2+ community.

In the past, Victoria’s pride parades have attracted thousands of visitors and participants from the LGBTQ2+ community (and their allies) from around the province.

This year, along with local MPs Murray Rankin, Randall Garrison, and Alistair MacGregor, federal NDP leader Jagmeet Singh will be marching in the parade and attending the Pride Festival on Sunday.

“This Pride Month, let us honour all Canadians who take action every day to transform the medical, social, and political environments that help advance LGBTQ2 rights,” reads a statement from Singh.

“Let us also celebrate the organizations that have and continue to grow out of this struggle – who work tirelessly to build a more inclusive Canada. And let us also remember LGBTQ2 communities around the world who suffer from prejudice, discrimination, violence and persecution.”

Earlier this year, the NDP leader also took part in the Toronto Pride parade on June 24th.
