Saanich firefighters were dispatched to Panama Flats Monday afternoon after several fires broke out in the area Monday afternoon.
According to Saanich Fire, multiple spot fires were blazing in Saanich’s Panama Flats at around 3:30 p.m. when crews arrived.
Some of the fires were “fairly large” but firefighters were able to quickly extinguish them. All flames were doused by about 3:45 p.m.
Several streets were closed while they battled the blazes, including Interurban and Wilkinson Roads.

Secondset of fires in two days
Saanich firefighters were also at Panama Flats on Saturday afternoon due to a brush fire. Fire crews were able to douse the flames quickly. The cause of that has not been determined and there’s been no confirmation whether it’s linked to today’s fires.
