This Saanich fish and chips spot is closing its doors at the end of the month

Saanich residents will soon have to find a new spot to get their halibut fix, as Sharky’s Fish & Chips announced that it will close at the end of July.

A Facebook post dated July 17 says the restaurant’s last day will be Saturday, July 28, as the owners Ken and Betty Louie head into retirement.

“We would like to sincerely thank our valued customers for their many years of patronage,” the post said. “We will miss you all!”

Sharky’s originally opened in 1984, with Ken and Betty taking over 11 years ago. The restaurant became a local favourite, and was even where Ken and Betty’s kids got their first jobs.

A number of customers responded to news of the closure with disappointment, but just as many congratulated the family for a well-earned retirement.

So if you’re itching for some fish and chips between now and July 28, you know where to stop!
