Since it opened in April, Island Poké has made quite the name for itself in downtown Victoria.
The restaurant’s Douglas Street location has become a popular spot to grab a bowl of fresh poké (pronounced poh-kay), a Hawaiian dish that includes fresh fish and other ingredients in a salad bar style—a deconstructed sushi, if you will.
Now, Island Poké is expanding its operations to Langford. The new location will be located at 111-829 Goldstream Avenue, and is “coming soon.”
The chain made the announcement on Facebook on Wednesday:
While there are a few other restaurants that have offered poké, Island Poké was the first in Victoria to specialize in the dish.
“We have more fresh ingredients, more types of ingredients,” Island Poké owner David Lee said at the time. “We only specialize in poké, so we’re able to keep everything fresh. [During our soft opening] we sold out everything because it was so busy. We won’t get oversupplied to keep the freshness.”
