Have you gone outside yet today? It’s a lot less smokey than it was earlier this week, so to celebrate, take a deep breath… and check out these cool events!

Here are five things to do in and around Victoria today:

2018 Men’s National Baseball Championship

One of the biggest events in Canadian baseball steps up to the plate at Royal Athletic Park today with a series of games culminating in Victoria versus New Brunswick at 7 p.m. Then it’s right into playoffs Saturday afternoon/evening and all day Sunday. Batter up!

Where: Wilson’s Stadium at Royal Athletic Park

When: Games start at 9 a.m. | Opening ceremonies at 6:15 p.m. | Full schedule online

Admission: Tournament passes ($75), day passes ($20/$30) and single game tickets ($8/$10) now available. Tickets on sale at the Victoria HarbourCats offices at 101-1814 Vancouver Street or by calling 778-265-0327.

CFUV presents: Eventide 2018 Finale w/ Diamond Cafe

The annual free music event of the summer is drawing to a close once more, so head down to Centennial Square one last time for an awesome night of live music. This week features Diamond Cafe, Teenage Wedding, Hush Hush Noise, and Quarterback. Here’s to another great year!

Monthly Sewcial

Have a sewing project that you just haven’t had time to finish? Head over to the Makehouse, and meet other sewists in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. Tea is included and guests are welcome to bring in snacks! Basic sewing machine skills are a must, as the format is not set up like a formal class or workshop. You must bring or purchase your own thread.

Blues Ball: Slow Dance Night

A slow dance night dedicated primarily to jazzier styles of blues. Whether you’re a beginner to slow blues, or already like the old and new styles of ballroom blues (slow drag, drag blues), we’ll have fun together!

When: 8:30 p.m. – 11 p.m.

Admission: $10 ($5 for students)

Cask Night: The Dark Side of the Farm

Bard & Banker has teamed up with Hoyne Brewing to bring you a special cask night in which they’ll unleash a brand new Dark Matter brew: The Dark Side of the Farm. This craft brew has been infused with blackberries handpicked at Seabluff Organic Farm in Metchosin—a winning combination! Keg taps at 5:00 p.m. and will go fast, so don’t be late!
