Victoria police have arrested Saanich resident, Andrew Ritch, who was the main suspect in trafficking drugs that were headed for the streets of downtown Victoria.

A month long investigation revealed that the case had roots in various parts of Greater Victoria, after which VicPD began coordinating with the RCMP.

On June 21st, two search warrants were executed in Colwood, leading to the discovery of 900 grams of cocaine, over 1.4 kilograms of Fentanyl, several firearms, and two vehicles related to the case.

“Investigators suspect that the Fentanyl located is likely of a higher purity and the quantity may be many times greater once made ready for the end user,” Staff Sergeant Conor King stated.

“This file is another example that drug trafficking doesn’t follow geographical boundaries and we work with other jurisdictions to prevent drugs from getting on our streets.”

Ritch has been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of a loaded firearm.

The vehicles were seized as part of the investigation and will be handed over to the BC Civil Forfeiture Office.
