Goodbye summer hello autumn! Here are 7 things to do this weekend in and around Victoria.

Victoria Royals vs Prince George Cougars

  • What: The Royal won their home opener against the Cougars and the two teams go back at it again.
  • Where: Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre –  1925 Blanshard Street
  • When: Puck drops at 7:05 pm

Victoria International Wine Festival 2018

  • What: Sip sip, hooray! The Victoria International Wine Festival has is this weekend.The Festival will span over three days, from Thursday, September 20th to Saturday, September 21st at the beautiful Parkside Hotel and Spa. This Event is 19+
  • When:
    • Thursday, September 20th – 7:00pm – 9:30pm
    • Friday, September 21st – 7:00pm – 9:30pm
    • Saturday, September 22nd – 3:00pm – 5:30pm & 7:00pm – 9:30pm

Vintage EXPO 2018

  • What: Victoria’s premier vintage event is back! It’s the  6th Annual GIANT VINTAGE EXPO at the iconic and historic Crystal Garden! Shop over 80 booths filled with glorious vintage, retro and antique treasures! Plus, enjoy spectacular fashion shows, best dressed contests, workshops, vintage-inspired entertainment, live music, a vintage-style moon photo booth, free gifts and much, much more!
  • Where: Crystal Gardens713 Douglas Street
  • When: 10 am to 5 am (on all weekend)
  • Cost: $10 to $20

Fall Fairfield 2018

  • What: Victoria’s first fair of the season is finally here to mark the first day of Fall (try saying that five times in a row!) and we couldn’t be more stoked!
  • When: Saturday, September 22nd, 1 p.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Where: Porter Park, behind Fairfield Gonzales Community Association, 1330 Fairfield Rd
  • Admission: FREE!

Western Speeway

  • What: FIREWORKS, CAR JUMP, Greater Victoria Services DESTRUCTION RACE, TOTAL DESTRUCTION, Lordco Demo Series, Howie’s Car Corral Bombers, & Loan Ranger’s Financial Claimers
  • When: Saturday, 5 pm to 10pm
  • Where: Western Speedway – 2207 Millstream Rd

Gorge Waterway Cleanup

  • What: Join the annual Gorge Waterway Cleanup and help clean the shoreline and waters of the Gorge. Every year, volunteers and the Burnside Gorge Community Association pitch in to clean up the water and shoreline along the Gorge. This improves the habitat for local wildlife and the look of the area for local residents and community members. Volunteers will clean the shoreline along the Gorge Waterway and a volunteer dive team will retrieve debris from the ocean floor. Bring your own boots and gloves if you can or borrow ours.
  • Where: Along the Gorge Waterway. If you are interested in participating in this great event as a volunteer, a participating group or a community sponsor, contact Travis Chater  at 250-388-5251, ext 225 or email travis[at]burnsidegorge.ca.
  • When: Saturday, 10 am to 2 pm

YYJPajamaParty

  • What: A staggering percentage of kids go to school hungry and we can help! All you have to do is go for brunch at any of the participating Victoria restaurants found on and they will donate 25% or $300 of their brunch proceeds to the cause. If you don’t feel like heading out for brunch, check out the YYJPajamaPartya at the bandshell at Government House where there will be treats for the kids and live music from Bucan Bučan and Louise Rose! to aid Victoria schools with their breakfast programs.
  • Where:  Participating restaurants and at the bandshell at Government House
  • When: Sunday – check each restaurant for their brunch hours. Event at Government house is between 12 and 2 pm.
