Rain or shine, be sure to get out and enjoy the Labour Day long weekend. Hopefully the sun will return and we can get back to that summer feeling!

Western Speedway

Watch the fastest Late Model drivers in BC battle it out for bragging rights in Reg Midgley Canada 200 Qualifying, followed by Qualifying Races to determine the starting lineup of Sunday’s 200 lapper. The BC Street Stocks competing for the Billy Foster Memorial Trophy, AMCA Dwarf Cars, Mini Stocks, & Old Timers Racing Association will be in action for a full night of Qualifying, Heat races, & Feature Events.

  • When:  September 1 to September 2 Grandstands open at 4:30, Qualifying 5:30, Westshore Towing Fan Fest 6:00(Time permitting) and Racing at 6:30.
  • Where: Western Speedway in Langford

150th annual Saanich Fair

Head to the Saanich Fair this Labour Day weekend to celebrate Western Canada’s Oldest Agricultural Fair. Enjoy live music, dance performances, eating contests, auction/raffle draw, and so much more! The focus is a “Family A Fair” and encourages families to come and enjoy the fairgrounds. Over 3000 people volunteer their time to put on the three day exhibition of sights and sounds. This year the headliners are: The Chris Buck Band on Saturday night followed by 54-40 Sunday night.

Greek Fest

Annual celebration of Greek culture. Live entertainment, dancing and delicious food from authentic greek food, desserts, baked goods as well as a Greek deli. Lots of activities including a heritage exhibit, arts, crafts, face painting and more. Admission FREE. Event from 11:00am-10:00pm ~ OPA!

32nd Victoria Fringe Festival

The biggest theatre event on Vancouver Island, the 32nd Victoria Fringe Festival runs August 22 – September 2, 2018.

With artists chosen by lottery, 47 uncensored shows from across the globe, featuring almost every genre imaginable from puppetry to music to spoken word to walking tours, fill 7 traditional venues and 5 off-site venues for 12 days of indie theatre.

Buskers Festival

Summer may be coming to an end, but that doesn’t mean the fun has to stop. So get ready to end the season with a bang at the Downtown Victoria Buskers Festival!

From August 30th to September 3rd — yes, that’s five whole days! — there’s no other place you’ll want to be.

  • When: August 30th – September 3rd
  • Where:
    • Centennial Square – This is the main hub of the event where the main stage is located and a stage on the grass area along Douglas Street plus a variety of food vendors. Please bring your own chairs or blankets for seating.
    • Market Square – This breathtaking, heritage site will feature a kid-friendly area with face painting by donation, hula hoops and bubbles.
    • Bastion Square – With an artisan market, one of the most breath-taking backdrops around and built in seating this is a must see location!

2018 Van Isle Tattoo Expo

The Expo will be held at the Victoria Conference Centre, located in the heart of beautiful and historic downtown Victoria and just steps away from our Inner Harbour. Whether you are a tattoo artist, a collector, or just curious, the Van Isle Tattoo Expo is an event you can’t miss!

41st Annual Victoria Classic Boat Festival

A celebration of our maritime heritage officially begins at 12:00pm with the arrival of Honorary Commodore, Dave Featherby aboard the HMCS Oriole. Silent auction and refreshments at Strathcona Hotel from 6:00-8:00pm.

  • Where: Inner Harbour, Downtown Victoria

Fireworks at Butchart Gardens

Every Saturday until September 1st, Butchart Gardens put on a brilliant fireworks display. It’s the last one of the season!

  • When: September 1 – Butchart Gardens opens up at regular hours and the fireworks go off around 8:45 p.m. tonight.
  • Where:  800 Benvenuto Avenue – Brentwood Bay
